2020 Filing Season & COVID-19

Welcome to 2021 and the 2020 Tax Filing Season!

First, we are still working, even with the Covid-19 adjustments we are all making. We are here to help you, our clients, complete your tax filings, get your refunds, and get your tax questions answered so you can focus on more important matters. Here are some highlights:

  1. We are still working and can complete your tax filings remotely (if needed/required).
  2. You can still door-drop your tax docs; however, you can provide your docs via uploads, fax, and email. Office hours can/will change as circumstances are updated. Everyone seems to love the uploads.
  3. We have a remote signing process that does NOT require you to come to the office to complete your return.
  4. We recommend noting the changing tax deadlines and keeping track of them (see more details below):
    1. IRS filing AND payment deadline: May 17th
    2. CA filing AND payment deadline: May 17th
    3. IRS/CA corporate extension deadline: September 15th
    4. IRS/CA individual extension deadline: October 15th
  5. The IRS extended the 2020 TAX PAYMENT deadline:
    1. Normally TAXES are due on April 15th. IRS just extended the DATE TO PAY TAXES to May 17th!
  6. CA Franchise Tax Board (the state “IRS”) has also extended the 2020 deadline:
    1. CALIFORNIA also extended the DATE TO TAX FILE and PAY TAXES to May 17th!
  7. We are recommending to all our clients to implement cost-savings measures for their businesses and personal households during this time of uncertainty. This might include things like cooking at home, turning off extra lights, changing your thermostat settings, making minimum payments on debts, requesting bill deferrals from utilities/landlords/other vendors, and avoiding unnecessary expenditures. This small cash savings now could make the difference if this situation extends beyond our expectations.
  8. Feel free to call or email our office regarding any questions or concerns. We are here to help!
